On the eve of the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security, representatives of international missions in Kosovo held a public tribune today on "improving the agenda for women, peace and security in Kosovo,'' reports KIM radio.

"Women are the most important part of society in Kosovo, as well as in the Western Balkans. Their voices must be heard, their role must be respected," said UNMIK chief Zahir Tanin at the conference.

The Vetevendosje Movement MP Faton Topalli, who was arrested several days ago for his role in throwing teargas in the Kosovo Assembly, argues in an opinion piece that ignoring the opposition and over 205 thousand citizens who want the annulment of recent agreement with Serbia, has brought Kosovo to a serious situation.

Vetevendosje Movement MP Faton Topalli admitted today that it was his duty today to throw the teargas in the Assembly. “I threw two cans with teargas and if this situation continues, there might be more,” Topalli said, adding that he is not afraid to face the prosecution on this matter. “The betrayal of the country is the most serious criminal offense. We said that we will not allow this way of governance. It is specified in the Constitution that international agreements must be ratified in the Assembly,” Topalli said.
