Schieb: Germany wants a sustainable solution for Kosovo as soon as possible (Blic)
German Ambassador to Serbia Thomas Schieb once again expressed the view that Germany is concerned and sceptical about the idea of exchanging territories, because that solution, as he said, could create even bigger problems in the medium and long term, Belgrade based daily Blic reports.
Schieb said during the conference "Security challenges of the Western Balkans and Serbia" that the main task of Germany in Serbia is to support two separate processes - the European path of Serbia and the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina.
The ambassador who recently took office in Belgrade reminded that these two parallel processes are high on the agenda of Berlin's foreign policy and added that the entire region of the Western Balkans is close to the heart of Germany. Schieb reminded that meeting the requirements for EU membership is not an easy task, that chapters must be closed, and the whole work in line with international politics, common foreign, security and defense policies.
"This is not just a matter of economy and law, it is a matter of foreign policy and crisis management," he said, adding that Serbia's participation in certain missions is also important in that field.
