“What is the point of amendment that would like “to change climate” in EU? (Tanjug)

European Parliament Foreign Relations Committee adopted draft resolution on progress of Western Balkans partners in the EU reforms, Tanjug news agency reports. The information that an amendment mentioning delineation between Kosovo and Serbia was included in the European Parliament Progress Report on Serbia was met with different interpretations. Therefore, Tanjug was explained that this amendment does not provide a direct opinion about the border correction idea as a solution in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, but does not exclude either any solution that meets clearly defined conditions. By approving the amendment referring to Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, aiming to reach an agreement on comprehensive normalization of relations, the EP members “took note” of ongoing discussion about possible correction of borders and clearly marked conditions necessary for any solution to be acceptable, Brussels officials explained to Tanjug. European Parliament sources also told Tanjug that this amendment was created as a result of compromise and that “every word has its significance” in it. In this concrete case, it means, that the Committee of Foreign Relations, and later the entire European Parliament, if it adopts the report at the end of November, only “takes note” of a current debate and the statements regarding possible corrections of borders, including exchange of territories, and in continuation it lists conditions necessary for acceptance “of any agreement” in Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, Tanjug news agency clarified.
