Vucic: Americans want to remove all traces of Resolution 1244 (B92)

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that Americans obviously have an aim to remove “the last traces of the UN Security Council Resolution 1244,” B92 reports today.

Vucic made these remarks commenting on a letter the ex-US ambassador in UN, Nikki Haley sent to the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres asking for withdrawal of UN Mission in Kosovo.

“Haley sent a letter to Guterres, Marko Djuric informed me about its content. Americans want to remove everything that UN represents in Kosovo and Metohija, because for them Kosovo is an independent state. They want to remove the last traces of UN Resolution 1244 and to show that their decision was the only right one. I am kindly asking them to consider the interests of the Western Balkans since the removal of UNMIK and establishment of the Kosovo army would lead to a difficult position in which we would have no choice, nor the right to choose and do anything else, except to protect our country.” Vucic said, B92 reported.
