During two-day visit to Washington, one of the founders of opposition Alliance for Serbia (SzS) Dragan Djilan and SzS Secretary Ljuban Panic held number of meetings with US officials and informed them about the situation in Serbia, Danas daily reports.

As the Alliance for Serbia said in a press statement, they met with US National Security Council Director for Europe and Russia John Erratt, Director for European Affairs William Berkley, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Matthew Palmer and members of the Senate and Congress.

During the meetings, Djilas pointed out that democratic processes in Serbia are jeopardized, as it is reflected in a fact that Serbia has lost the status of free country, as noted in the Freedom House annual report.

They also discussed about peaceful protest held for months in more than 100 cities and municipalities across Serbia. Djilas also informed his interlocutors about the need for a dialogue between opposition and authorities which does not exist at the moment, impossibility of holding fair and free elections, as well as about united stance of opposition it would boycott elections under current circumstances.
