“Conditions for holding elections do not exist” (Radio KIM)

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci announced extraordinary mayoral elections in northern Kosovo on 19 May. Deputy Leader of Civic Initiative Freedom, Democracy, Justice (GI SDP) Ksenija Bozovic thinks that conditions for holding elections do not exist, while RTV Mir Director Nenad Radosavljevic said elections are yet another game that may cause instability, Radio KIM reports. “A decision to call elections at this moment is slightly strange, but we will monitor the situation. People are doubtful if it is about agreements again, but we must wait to see how the situation would further evolve. Conditions for holding elections do not exist, this is something new to us, we will think and after talks we shall see what decision to make, it all depends upon conditions which will be created for the elections, if we would take part or not,” Bozovic told RTV KIM. Nenad Radosavljevic emphasized he does not know what the reason is to call elections now “unless to cause instability in the north of Kosovo.” “I neither believe some significant changes would occur, nor that elections would be democratic, regular or legitimate. This is a game between that what is the structure of Pristina authorities and the structure of Belgrade authorities, we cannot know about their games in details, but it is certain they have bad intentions, and it is to cause instability, and maybe something worse than that and it is violence,” Radosavljevic told RTV KIM.
