Journalists to gather in front of MISSING Monument in Gracanica (KIM Radio)
On the occasion of the International Press Freedom Day, May 3, Association of Journalists of Serbia in Kosovo will organize a gathering in front of an art installation MISSING in Gracanica to point out to the unresolved murders and kidnappings, attacks and pressure against journalists and the media, KIM Radio reports.
The Association recalled that the pressure and attacks against journalists in Kosovo and Metohija continued over the last year.
“The police has not investigated a hacker attack on “Slobodno srpski” portal and threats made against the President of the Association of Journalists of Serbia in Kosovo Budimir Nicic. Threats and pressure continue to target KoSSev portal from Mitrovica North and RTV KIM from Caglavica,” the statement reads.
It recalled that a memorial plaque dedicated to the missing journalists Djuro Slavuj and Ranko Perenic was demolished for the seventh time, and after the journalists found a demolished plaque between the villages of Velika Hoca and Zociste in Orahovac municipality, the Kosovo police has launched an investigation and identified the perpetrators for the first time.
“The Commission for Investigation of Murders, Kidnappings and Disappearances of Serbian and Albanian journalists has not been established yet. A joint initiative launched by the Association of Journalists of Serbia in Kosovo and Association of Journalists of Kosovo has not been implemented.”
The MISSING installation in Gracanica bears names of kidnapped and missing persons, including the names of journalists and media professionals who were killed since 21 September 1998
