Chairman of the Coordination Body for Bujanovac, Presevo and Medvedja responded to Albanians from the south of Serbia (Tanjug, B92)
"The holding of an extraordinary session of the Pristina Parliament on the situation of the Albanians in the south of Serbia is commendable if this session will contribute to a better understanding," said the Chairman of the Coordination Body for Bujanovac, Presevo and Medvedja Zoran Stankovic.
He expressed his belief that the assistance announced by the Pristina parliament for Albanians in these three municipalities in Serbia will be for the benefit of all citizens living there.
Commenting on the requests of the Albanians from these three municipalities to be part of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, which was discussed at today's session of the Kosovo Parliament, Stankovic says:
"I have said a million times that Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja are an integral part of Serbia and that they will remain so, and those who do not have anything to do should talk about secession and joining any territory, including the territory of KiM," Stankovic said on the occasion of the Assembly session, from where it was claimed that the status of Albanians in the south of Serbia was aggravated and a demand was sent that they enjoy the same rights that the Serbs enjoy in Kosovo, and that the so-called 'Preshevo valley' is part of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.
Stankovic said that in Bujanovac, where he talked with local leaders today about the problems that worry citizens, regarding the construction of a water treatment plant, the provision of textbooks for teaching in Albanian.
Stankovic said he was in constant contact with the leadership of the local self-government and that he talked to Bujanovac Mayor Shaip Kamberi today.
"We talked with Kamberi about the problem of employment, enrolment of students at Bujanovac faculty departments, as well as all current affairs that surround the municipality, where we can contribute to work and activities and, together with local self-government, do what is our functional and legal obligation," Stankovic said.
When asked to comment the decision of the President of the National Council of Albanians, Ragmi Mustafa, to sue Minister Alexander Vulin over the use of the word ''Shiptari'', by which he insulted them, Stankovic said:
"We do not have the right to interfere with the work of the judicial authorities and the prosecution, so we expect that they will solve this in an appropriate manner and within the stipulated deadline."
