Chairman of the Coordination Body for Bujanovac, Presevo and Medvedja responded to Albanians from the south of Serbia (Tanjug, B92)

"The holding of an extraordinary session of the Pristina Parliament on the situation of the Albanians in the south of Serbia is commendable if this session will contribute to a better understanding," said the Chairman of the Coordination Body for Bujanovac, Presevo and Medvedja Zoran Stankovic.

He expressed his belief that the assistance announced by the Pristina parliament for Albanians in these three municipalities in Serbia will be for the benefit of all citizens living there.

The president of the coordinating body of the Government of Serbia for Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja  Zoran Stankovic told Belgrade based daily Vecernje Novosti that the southern part of central Serbia is not threatened by any armed conflict.

Stankovic categorically claims that a war in this area will not happen, despite "constant announcements".

Annexation of the three southern Serbian municipalities populated by Albanians, by Kosovo, will not be on the agenda of the EU facilitated Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, Serbian Government official in charge of the region Zoran Stankovic told TV N1.

Stankovic, who is heading the Coordination Body for Bujanovac, Presevo and Medvedja municipalities, added the international community representatives had told him there would be no exchange of territories (between Belgrade and Pristina) because that would trigger a chain reaction not only in the Balkans.

On the eve of the Albanian holiday, leaders of the five cities in the region in Tirana have founded the Union.

Tirana, Pristina, Preševo, Tetovo and Ulcinj formed the Union of Municipalities in the region a day before the Albanian flag, the day when Albania proclaimed the independence. Therefore, the move many interpret as the first step in the concrete action of creating a "Greater Albania".
