Ruzic: Unacceptable support of the National Council of Albanians to Pristina's decision on Serbian passports (Blic, Vecernje Novosti)
Minister of State Administration and Local Self-Government of Serbia Branko Ruzic describe as unacceptable and as misuse for political purposes the support given by the National Council of Albanians to ''temporary institutions in Pristina'' after the decision to ban the crossing of the administrative line between central Serbia and Kosovo with a Serbian passport, reports Serbian media.
"It is unacceptable that representatives of bodies, whose work is financed by the money of all Serbian citizens, instead of doing what they were elected for by their compatriots, such as promoting and preserving culture and traditions, supporting better integration of the Albanian national minority into Serbian society, acts politically opposite to the interests of their state and the communities they represent," Ruzic told Belgrade based daily Vecernje Novosti.
He notes that "this is, unfortunately, another example of the misuse of a national minority national council for political purposes."
Novosti recalls that in early June, the Albanian government made a decision on regular funding for the National Council of Albanians (from the municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja) in southern central Serbia.
At that time, it was reported from the Council that the Law on National Councils allow these institutions in Serbia, in addition to state funds, can be financed in other ways, through donations from various sources.
