Leposavic Mayor: News that I was beaten up is a pure fabrication (Danas, Kosovo-online, Kosovapress)
Mayor of Leposavic Zoran Todic told Kosovo Online news portal that allegations made by Kosovo media that he participated in a fight and that he was allegedly beaten are pure fabrication, reports Belgrade based daily Danas.
“Unfortunately, we live in a time when irresponsible individuals involved in journalism can publish anything and without justification, as well as falsehoods, without being held responsible. And this lie comes from Albanian portals and media that have for a long time been spreading falsehoods against the officials and members of the Serbian List, with the clear aim of discrediting and disparaging the work and activities of the Serbian List,” Todic said.
Yesterday Kosovapress agency reported that a fight had taken place on Sunday night in Leposavic, during a small-football tournament, when several people have beaten Todic and another Serb.
The agency also cited the name of the person who allegedly beat Mayor of Leposavic and the other person noting that they failed to obtain confirmation of this incident from Kosovo Police and that the incident was not registered in the regular police report.
“Their goal is to undermine and break Serbian unity, while waiting for the resolution of newly emerged political crisis and situation caused by Albanian politicians from Pristina,'' Todic said.
Todic explained to Kosovo Online that he, along with his associates, hosted veterans from Stara Pazova who played a friendly match with veterans from Leposavic that evening and later learned that there was a verbal altercation between some people in the summer caffe garden nearby the municipality. He emphasized that not a single journalist of the media which published the news contacted him for any comment.
