Kukan: Seriously about the charges (Danas)

“Allegations on corruption of EULEX officials should be taken very seriously. It is necessary that independent investigators check such allegations, bearing in mind compliance with procedures and the presumption of innocence. However, I fear that the accusations already undermined the credibility of the mission, which was initiated in order to introduce the rule of law in Kosovo,” told Eduard Kukan, head of the European Parliament's delegation for relations with Serbia.

Kukan points out that consideration of all issues related to the allegations on corruption within EULEX and the overall impact of this mission should be a priority. "The responsibility for the situation should be clearly identified, and the mechanisms for investigation within the mission should be improved," he said.

He stated that he will ensure that the investigation into the allegations will be implemented "without delay and in a transparent manner." “Such serious allegations must be investigated. Despite such accusations, I believe that the staff of the mission is dedicated to their work and to the objectives related to the promotion of the rule of law in Kosovo,” indicates Eduard Kukan.
