EU: Respect procedure envisaged in Brussels agreement (Blic, Tanjug)
BRUSSELS - The EU expects the procedure envisaged in the Brussels agreement to be respected in case of the announced visit of Kosovo Minister of Foreign Affairs Hasim Taci to Belgrade, spokesperson of the High EU representatives for foreign affairs and security policy Maja Kocijancic stated on Friday.
In the dialogue on normalisation of relations, an agreement was reached concerning the procedure of mutual visits by Serbian and Kosovo officials and it envisages that all matters should be solved through liaison officers, Kocijancic said during a news briefing. She noted that the EU expects the procedure to be respected in this case as well.
Taci was invited to the conference about European integration of the Western Balkans by the Youth Education Committee NGO which will organise the meeting from April 23 to 25. Serbian officials released that Taci's visit has not been agreed on with institutions, that it is needless and that Taci will be arrested in case he decides to come because an indictment has been raised against him.
Hasim Taci, as former leader of the ethnic Albanian paramilitary unit in the southern Serbian province, has been sentenced in absentia to ten years of imprisonment for acts of terrorism and in 2003, the indictment against him was expanded to include the crime of genocide.
