Mayor Rakić to Apostolova : Publish the contracts! We do not want a war of press statements (Kontakt Plus Radio)

Mayor of North Mitrovica Goran Rakić issued a press statement early this morning in which he said that he was surprised by the statement of the EU Special Representative Nataliya Apostolova that the European Union was not responsible for the cancellation of financial assistance to North Mitrovica, but the local government. Rakić called upon Apostolova to publish the complete documentation of the contract for the revitalization of the bridge and the construction of the building for the University in North Mitrovica. “Apart from that, I demand that for the sake of transparency, the contract on the construction of the University building is published, because in that contract, the Ambassador Apostolova  has approved that the company which has prepared the project, also received a contract for the supervisory oversight the same project, which is unprecedented in the work of any organization, and what should not have happened is that Apostolva was allowed to look after the money of the citizens of the European Union, like she claims” it was said in a statement from Rakić’s cabinet. Rakić pointed out that the municipality of Mitrovica was open to cooperation with all donors, but that “such statements surprise them”. “The complete tender and financial procedure for projects was carried out by the office of Ambassador Apostolova, therefore we demand that aforementioned contracts are published, because we do not want to be the accomplices of the bad moves of Mrs. Apostolova, who, I am sure, does not have the support of the official Brussels” it was said in the statement. Rakić believes that the citizens would be surprised by the information that the office of Ambassador Apostolova approved to finance the revitalization of the bridge in the amount of 1.2 million euros, while the supervision over the implementation of the project was financed with huge 1.9 million.
