Mayor of Mitrovica North municipality, Goran Rakic called for today at 12.00, in his cabinet an urgent meeting with the representatives of the Kosovo Police, KFOR and EULEX, TV Most reports.
The topic of the meeting would be security situation in Mitrovica North.
KoSSev reported that last night, Audi vehicle with KM plates, owned by A.A., from Gorani community, was set on fire in Mitrovica North. Kosovo police suspects this is an arson case.
“The vehicle was set on fire on Ivo Lola Ribar Street, with the use of an unknown flammable substance. Since the investigation is ongoing, I cannot talk about the motives at this stage,” Deputy Regional Commander of Kosovo police for the North, Besim Hoti told KoSSev.
Association of Journalists of Serbia in Kosovo, called upon local authorities to openly present their work and timely inform the media about the organization of events and public hearings, without selection, so the citizens can have insight into their work, KIM Radio reported.
As UNS press statement reads the municipality of Mitrovica North, invited only TV Most to cover the public hearing on the budget held yesterday, and announced the event on the municipal notice board.
Mitrovica North Municipality in the strongest terms condemns any incident that jeopardizes “peace and tranquility of citizens,” Kontakt Plus Radio reported.
The statement further said such events have confirmed the rightness of the stance of the Mayor Rakic to cease work on the Ibar River Bridge.
At the same time, the municipality called upon security bodies to swiftly discover details of such event, in order to prevent the use of this case for the political purposes.
Mayor of North Mitrovica Goran Rakić issued a press statement early this morning in which he said that he was surprised by the statement of the EU Special Representative Nataliya Apostolova that the European Union was not responsible for the cancellation of financial assistance to North Mitrovica, but the local government.
Rakić called upon Apostolova to publish the complete documentation of the contract for the revitalization of the bridge and the construction of the building for the University in North Mitrovica.
