McAllister and Fajon: Bring perpetrators to justice (Danas)
David McAllister and Tanja Fajon, European Parliament members called upon responsible bodies to find culprits who killed Oliver Ivanovic, adding it is necessary to continue Brussels dialogue, Danas daily reports today.
“I condemn in the strongest term the murder of Oliver Ivanovic and extend sincere condolence to his family. The relevant judicial institutions must investigate this incident swiftly and professionally and bring perpetrators before the justice. The EU rule of law mission, EULEX should support the authorities within their mandate. There is no alternative to Belgrade-Pristina dialogue. We must not allow that such a horrible and heinous crime inflame dangerous rhetoric in the region, McAllister, EP Rapporteur for Serbia and Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee,” said, Danas daily reported. Tanja Fajon “strongly condemned this cowardly act that puts into question not only the rule of law, but also fundamental values, such as security of people who live in the north of Kosovo.” She recalled Oliver Ivanovic as a man of moderate stances and ready for the dialogue and cooperation. Fajon highlighted it is necessary that judicial bodies do their job swiftly so those who have participated in this violent act will be held responsible for their deeds. Fajon said she feels sorry “that a long awaited continuation of the Belgrade-Pristina talks on technical level was cancelled because of this tragic event and it is important that all stay calm and work to urgently shed the light on this case,” Danas daily reported.
