Vulin: Stopping of “Great Albania” to start in Kosovo (BETA, RTS, B92)

Serbian Minister of Defense, Aleksandar Vulin said in Belgrade that the process of stopping the “Great Albania” must start in Kosovo and Metohija, Serbian media reported.

Vulin made these remarks in a roundtable, held within the framework of internal dialogue on Kosovo, adding Serbia must not allow the creation of “Great Albania” on its borders and to let others define its borders. Meanwhile, RTS reported that Minister Vulin assessed it is not enough to resolve only the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, but there would be no lasting peace and stability in the Balkans without resolution of the Serb national issue. “After two centuries of persistent and strong struggle, sometimes more or less successfully, the Serbian people did not resolve their national issue. The civil war, which destroyed the former Yugoslavia left Serbian people divided, broken down into countries it did not choose, in countries that see them as a factor of disturbance,” Vulin said, RTS reported. He added that relations of Serbia toward the region, respectively its neighbors, must be equivalent to their relations toward the representatives of the Serb community living in their territories. Speaking about the EU integration, Vulin said Serbia must not be conditioned by giving up resolution of the Serbian national issue. He rejected criticism that the Army of Serbia has no right to take part in the internal dialogue, saying that the Army is one of the most respected parts of the Serbian society, and it has the right and obligation to say what it thinks, certainly more than some non-governmental organizations, RTS reported.
