Mitchell: Kosovo has right to establish forces, it is not threat (BETA, B92)
USA Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia, Wess Mitchell urged both parties to implement the obligations from the Brussels agreement, Serbian media reported.
Speaking at a press conference, following the meeting with the Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Mitchell said that Kosovo has the right to establish professional forces that would deal with security, and it would be no threat to Serbia and Serbs. “Kosovo has the right to establish professional forces that would deal with security, which would include Kosovo Serbs and no one has the right to forbid Kosovo to develop such structures,” Mitchell said. He also said, USA support Kosovo right to do so, adding it is necessary to amend Constitution to do so. He termed the talks with the Serbian President Vucic as “open and very good” saying they spoke about Kosovo, security and safety in the region as well as economic development.
