Haziri: Rebel MPs are keeping Kosovo isolated (Bota Sot/Telegrafi)
In an interview for Bota Sot daily newspaper, LDK deputy leader and Gjilan Mayor, Lutfi Haziri, said delays in ratifying the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro, as a result of the actions of the opposition and certain MPs, are obstructing the political life in Kosovo. “They [the MPs] are obliged to coordinate within their party structures and as representatives of the people to play their role and conclude the process. It is unforgivable for Kosovo not to get visa liberalisation as a result of the actions of certain MPs, including some from the LDK. We understood them when they did not want to vote for Isa Mustafa as Prime Minister and even during the election of the President, but their actions against important processes for Kosovo is unreasonable,” Haziri said. Asked to comment on the possibility of early national elections, Haziri said that for the LDK, elections are not the solution to problems in Kosovo. “We need to respect the election time-frame; we need to prepare for local elections and improve the voting process in order to make it more simple for the voters and eliminate any tendency for eventual manipulation. We have neither the budget nor the political luxury of going to elections whenever political groups want this. Before 2018 we will have only local elections, and national elections will be held in 2018,” Haziri added.
