Deputy leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lutfi Haziri, told RTV Dukagjini that the law on specialist chambers cannot be abrogated through initiatives brought before the Assembly as this could cause “legal chaos”.  He said Kosovo could have preceded the establishment of specialist chambers by setting up a court of its own to deal with allegations of crimes contained in the Council of Europe report but that such an initiative did not encounter support back in 2015.

The conference “Our region, three main challenges and three solutions”, supported by the Office of the UN Special Representative to Kosovo, is underway in Gjilan/Gnjilane. The conference gathers five mayors of municipalities in the east region as well as officials from the Office of the UN Special Representative to Kosovo, OSCE and civil society.

In an interview for Bota Sot daily newspaper, LDK deputy leader and Gjilan Mayor, Lutfi Haziri, said delays in ratifying the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro, as a result of the actions of the opposition and certain MPs, are obstructing the political life in Kosovo. “They [the MPs] are obliged to coordinate within their party structures and as representatives of the people to play their role and conclude the process. It is unforgivable for Kosovo not to get visa liberalisation as a result of the actions of certain MPs, including some from the LDK.

The only Serbian representative in the Municipal Assembly of Gnjilane/Gjilan, Srđan Mitrović, from the beginning of 2016, was forbidden to attend the meetings of the municipal authority.

Mitrović says that the reason of his removal from the assembly is that he performs and as the Chairman of the Interim Authority of the Municipality of Gnjilane within the Serbian system, since the beginning of this year.

The Special Prosecution of Kosovo has filed indictment for Lutfi Haziri, mayor of Gjilan. According to the indictment, Haziri is suspected to have abused with his official authority and to have exceeded his competencies, with the intention of profiting for himself and other individuals, by violating the rights of the other participants at public auctions. The Prosecutor of this case has requested from the court to proclaim the defendant guilty of committing crime and to sentence him according to the law.
