U.S. ambassador on Kosovo talks: It takes two to tango (B92)

U.S. Ambassador to Serbia Michael Kirby said on Friday that the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina requires compromise because "it takes two to tango".

When asked to comment on the Brussels dialogue in light of German Chancellor Angela Merkel's "latest messages about compromise," Kirby stated for Tanjug:

"Serbia is working with Kosovo because they both want a European path and Merkel is not telling them to decide this or that, she is merely saying to sit and talk to each other. It is clear for Serbia and Kosovo as well that compromise is needed on both sides. This is what people must remember as it is the essence of negotiation".

The ambassador said he was pleased to see EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini was investing a lot of time in mediation so that the two sides could bring their stands closer.

Now there is just a bit work left to be done, noted Kirby.
