Pristina PM talks about security issues with Kosovo Serbs (N1, Kossev)
Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj discussed on Thursday an overall situation in Kosovo, especially security issues, with the leaders of local Serbs, his cabinet said in a statement carried by Kossev website.
Goran Rakic, the President of the Serb List party, supported by Belgrade, and Milan Radoicic, his deputy, were present in the meeting.
“The meeting was about the overall situation in the country, with a special focus on the security issues and economic and social development,” the statement said.
The encounter came only days after Kosovo police briefly detained five Serbs, triggering new disputes between Belgrade and Pristina.
It also followed the decision of some local Serbs to leave the Security Forces of Kosovo (BSK) after Pristina said it would speed up the process of the BSK transformation into a Kosovo army. Belgrade supported the move.
Pristina’s authorities were trying to talk the Serbs out of leaving the force, adding Serbia’s authorities forced them into the decision.
