The chairperson of the Serbian List Slavko Simic condemned yesterday’s violence in the Kosovo parliament and called MPs from the opposition parties to turn toward democracy. “There is a tendency for this to turn into a serious institutional violence. We only want optimal conditions to be provided for sessions and that lives of MPs are not jeopardized,” said Simic to RTV Kim, and added that yesterday’s situation inside and outside of the parliament was catastrophic.

The chairperson of the Serbian List Slavko Simic said yesterday that Association/Community of Serb-majority municipalities (A/CSM) will be created despite political instability in Kosovo. Simic said to Beta agency that current instability has been created by political parties of Kosovo Albanians, however it did not avoid Serbs either. He voiced hope that all that is happening lately in Kosovo is only a part of daily political struggles between Kosovo Albanian politicians.

Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister and senior official of the Serbian List, Branimir Stojanovic, yesterday stated in Novo Brdo that decision of the Kosovo Constitutional Court on suspension of the agreement on Association/Community of Serb municipalities is nothing but reaction on the rejection of the UNESCO General Conference to admit Kosovo to that organization.

The chairperson of the Serbian List Slavko Simic said to Tanjug that during the voting on Kosovo’s membership in UNESCO sense of some ambassadors prevailed and they brought good decision not to support Kosovo’s bid to become a member of this organization.

Kosovo has signed the Stabilization Association Agreement as a status neutral territory. There is no place in the text where status of the south Serbian province is prejudged, and it remains in line with the UNSC Resolution 1244, said chairperson of the Serbian List, Slavko Simic, in an interview with Novosti, and added that Kosovo is quoted with an asterisk in the text what proves that it is not recognized as a state.

Representatives of the Serbian List have reacted on a statement of the leader of the Democratic Party Bojan Pajtic who said that Kosovo can’t become UNESCO member and that Serbian Government and the prime minister are ‘deceiving the general public’.

Adoption of the amendment of the Law on Stabilization Association Agreement by the Kosovo parliament, which was not supported by the Serbian List, doesn’t mean that Pristina would be presented at international gatherings as the Republic of Kosovo. Amendment on the Law on ratification of the SAA, which provides that Kosovo would be presented as Republic of Kosovo, instead of Kosovo with asterisk won’t have any legal consequences, claims Minister for Communities and Return in the Kosovo government Dalibor Jevtić.

EU representatives said that amendments of the Stabilization Association Agreement, which is signed with Kosovo, are not possible. There is no dilemma for the EU, the only valid SAA with Kosovo is the one which Brussels offered and both sides have signed, with asterisk near Kosovo, which doesn’t prejudice the status of Kosovo. “We have published the SAA already in April,’ said spokesperson of the EU High Representative Maja Kocijančič.

The Head of the parliamentary group of the Serbian List Slavko Simic took over officially the office of President of the Citizen Initiative Serbian List, from Aleksandar Jablanovic, who was appointed Secretary of State in the Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Social Issues of the Government of Serbia.

Kosovo strategic action network (KSAM/KPAN) expressed its dissatisfaction and concern with the work of Serb MPs in the Kosovo parliament who supported many processes and laws, which in practice never come to life or are contrary to Kosovo Constitution. “One of the latest motions is support to the Law on ratification of the Stabilization Association Agreement between Kosovo and the European Union, which could not be adopted without the votes of MPs from the Serbian List,” KSAM communicated.
