Koha reports that Kosovo’s Minister for Local Government and Administration, Ljubomir Maric has returned to Kosovo government to perform his duties, after around two months blockade following the dismissal of Communities and Returns Minister, Aleksandar Jablanovic. Maric participated on Thursday in the ministerial meeting about Brezovica project.
Agim Bahtiri, the Mayor of Mitrovica municipality and member of the New Kosovo Alliance (AKR) told Gazeta Express that he is talking with senior members of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) but that he has yet to decide if he will join this party. The AKR is undergoing internal elections and it is not known if Behxhet Pacolli will remain party leader of if he will be replaced by Mimoza Kusari-Lila, current deputy party leader and Mayor of Gjakova municipality.
Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Isa Mustafa said on Wednesday that the government of Kosovo is working to “build a state with a functional rule of law, economic development and where human rights are respected.” "During the hundred days of work, we made many positive steps. Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Hashim Thaci, said on Friday that the future of Kosovo will be unclear if it doesn't establish the special court which will address war crimes allegations. "The alternative is the establishment of the special court by the United Nations,” Thaci said. According to him, only Kosovo enemies would want to see the failure to establish special court. "The alternative is too painful and completely outside the authority and laws of Kosovo," he added.
Ramush Haradinaj, the leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), told a press conference in Pristina today that the government of Kosovo is a government of the mafia, the underground and organized crime. “This government has killed all hope among the people of Kosovo, it has triggered strikes, protests, disatisfaction and has forced people to flee the country as a result of deceiving politics, false promises and consequent failures,” Haradinaj said. “Only a capital change will help improve the situation in the country and will bring back the hope among the Kosovo people.”
Kosovo’s Interior Minister, Skender Hyseni, on Thursday met with France’s Interior Minister, Bernard Cazeneuve. Hyseni and Cazeneuve discussed the rule of law situation in Kosovo and bilateral cooperation in combating organized crime and terrorism. Hyseni asked for France's support for Kosovo's membership in international organizations, with particular emphasis on Kosovo's membership in Interpol.
The European Union Office in Kosovo considers unacceptable the initiative of the Municipal Assembly of Ranilug to name a road in this municipality with the name of late Serbia President Slobodan Milosevic. According to the news portal, the EU Office said that such initiative does not contribute to dialogue and understanding between different communities in Kosovo. "Proposal to name a street after a person indicted by the Hague Tribunal is unacceptable," said EU Office officials.
