Western Balkans leaders have signed a declaration urging the EU to make its enlargement to the Western Balkans "a matter of geopolitical significance."

The leaders, gathered at the two-day Brdo-Brijuni Summit in Tirana, signed the declaration on Thursday, the Slovenian agency STA reported.
"The EU should keep in mind that the full integration of the Western Balkans into the European value system is an important a factor as the stability of Europe in general," the declaration said.

Serbia's President Aleksandar Vucic said in Tirana on Thursday there would be nothing of the European Union's "sweet dreams" about the Western Balkans countries this summer, the FoNet news agency reported.

Addressing the Brdo – Brijuni summit in the Albanian capital, he predicted that Serbia and Montenegro would not open any new chapter in negotiations with the EU, the accession talks with

Albania and North Macedonia would not start, and nothing would happen regarding Bosnia.

Federica Mogherini remains the only mediator in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, a spokesperson for the EU foreign policy chief has said.

Speaking for Belgrade's Vecernje Novosti daily, Maja Kocijancic made the comment after it has been hinted that Germany, and France, in particular, could assume an active role in the process.

Kosovo’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Skender Hyseni travels today to Slovenia, to participate at the EU-Western Balkans Summit, at the level of the Ministers of Internal Affairs and Ministers of Justice.

According to the press release issued by the Ministry, the two-day Summit will be held in Brdo, Slovenia. They will be discussing different issues related to security and strengthening of the internal security, through integrative governance in the field.
