The Franco-Andorran consortium "MDP Consulting" has still not given financial guarantees for the Brezovica development project. The deadline was 24 December 2015, but it has been postponed until 31 May 2016, due to the political situation.
President of the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce, Safet Gerxhaliu expressed skepticism about the project.
In Kosovo, the international investment consortium failed to timely provide the funds for the construction of a new ski resort Brezovica. Therefore, the Kosovo government has extended the deadline for six months, but he Serbian representatives disagree with it. In the "Inex" ski center in Brezovica say that they are ready for the ski season.
The Serbian government will soon offer a solution for the Brezovica Ski Resort in the form of an investment program, which will provide sufficient legal guarantees for safe investments, stated the Serbian Government Office for Kosovo. “There are on-going court cases in Kosovo launched by the "Fond Inex Intereksport", while "Ski Resorts of Serbia" announced initiation of an international arbitration related to the case of Brezovica Ski Resort,” was stated.
French-Andorran consortium MDP Consulting still didn’t come up with the financial guarantees with regard to developing project of Brezovica, for which the deadline is 24 December.
While waiting for French consortium to submit financial guarantees for the construction of Tourist Center Brezovica, distrust toward this master plan is growing, whereas Serbian Ski Resorts have informed the Prime Minister of Kosovo Isa Mustafa that they would launch a procedure requesting international arbitration with regard to Kosovo government’s decision to expropriate property of the Ski Resorts Brezovica (Serbian Public Company). There was no reaction so far on the side of the Kosovo government and relevant ministries.
Ski Resorts of Serbia, part of which is Ski Centre Brezovica, sent Isa Mustafa the announcement on the launch of the investment dispute before the international arbitration in Paris against Pristina and the decision of Kosovo government, which foresees the expropriation of property in Ski Centre Brezovica and the construction of the Tourist Centre Brezovica.
Deputy Prime Minister Branimir Stojanovic, Minister of Administration and Local Self-Government Ljubomir Maric and Minister for Communities and Returns Dalibor Jevtic have condemned the raid of the premises of the National Park Sara in Brezovica and arrest of employees who worked in the system of the Republic of Serbia.
Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Djuric said today that the special forces of the Kosovo police arrested all the workers of Serbian nationality employed in the National Park "Sara" in Brezovica, stating that it was a trampling of the Brussels agreement and provocation directed against the whole of Serbia.
Djuric told reporters in Brussels that 15 workers have been arrested, along with the Director of the National park "Sara".
Contract between the Government of Kosovo and the French consortium about allotment of the land in Brezovica for 99 years, will come into force in October, after both sides fulfil their contractual obligations, stated Kosovo government officials for the portal Zeri.info.
Pascal Roux, president of the French consortium MDP Consulting said that their intention is not to deal with the politics, but to make modern ski centre Brezovica. “It is true that we are on the territory with the intensive history. However, our project is multi-ethnic and should contribute to reconciliation.”
He said that together with Ski Centre should be developed agriculture, building and providing services,… “We will create conditions that region become attractive.”
