Serbian Foreign Affairs Minister and first deputy PM Ivica Dacic is cautious while commenting on EU Commissioner for Enlargement Johannes Hahn's statement about the possibility of "a land swap" as part of a future Belgrade-Pristina agreement. Dacic told Belgrade-based daily Blic that Pristina - who last November introduced 100 percent tariffs on goods from central Serbia, deadlocking the Kosovo dialogue - should make the first move. Serbian National Committee for Kosovo and Metohija Milovan Drecun told RTS morning news edition the USA realized that a compromise is needed in order to change the status of the Serbian southern province. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Sunday spoke with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in Subotica, northern Serbia, Tanjug news agency reported. A joint session of the governments of the two countries would be held in this town on Monday. Vucic and Orban concluded that relations between the two countries are at the highest level in their history, based on mutual understanding and trust, as a result of many years of cooperation.

Serbian Foreign Affairs Minister Ivica Dacic and his German counterpart Heiko Mass discussed on Friday bilateral relations between the two countries, situation in the region and possibilities for resumption of Belgrade – Pristina dialogue, BETA news agency reported quoting the statement of the Serbian Foreign Affairs Ministry. The two officials met on the sidelines of the foreign ministers’ meeting in Warsaw, gathered under the Berlin Process including the Western Balkans and eight EU member states. They also agreed that Minister Mass would visit Serbia, the statement concluded.

European Commissioner Johannes Hahn said in Washington on Wednesday that the United States and European Union want to bring the Western Balkans into the EU.

Our shared goal on both sides of the Atlantic is to stabilize the region and bring all six Western Balkan countries into the EU based on established conditions. That’s in our geopolitical self-interest,” he wrote on his Twitter account from a meeting of the Atlantic Council.

Brussels is informed about the elections in the north of Kosovo, EU spokesperson Maja Kocijancic says, but also once again urged a quicker continuation of Belgrade and Pristina dialogue as the best way to resolve all open issues in the region, reports Radio Mitrovica Sever, quoting Belgrade based agency Tanjug.

On that occasion, she emphasized the necessity of a quick continuation of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.

The battle for supremacy over Europe is being fought between Germany and the US, and it could be decided in Kosovo, Belgrade based daily Blic writes on Friday.

For Germany, Kosovo is an independent state and there is no further discussion about border change, Blic says, and reminds that German parliamentarians Peter Beyer and Christian Schmitd conveyed this message to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic two days ago.
