IMC: Minor violations by the media in covering election campaign (Telegrafi)

Independent Media Commission (IMC) today presented the preliminary report on the media monitoring during parliamentary election campaign. The IMC found violation of provisions of the Law on General Elections, specifically of article 49 which describes the way a political advertising is identified.

However, as these violations were minor, the media concerned were informed of their violations and through a better intercommunication they avoided being sanctioned. IMC announced that the overall reporting during election campaign was fair and unbiased.

The Kosovo government impossible without the Serbs (Vesti)

Regardless of whether they will remain the ten guaranteed seats in the Kosovo parliament, after the counting of conditional votes (final official figures Kosovo CEC will announce on July 10th), the Serbian community in Kosovo will certainly have ministerial and deputy minister positions whoever forms the Kosovo government. These positions are guaranteed by the Constitution of Kosovo, namely Article 96, which refers to the ministries and community representation, which is practically copied provision from the Ahtisaari Plan.

The turnout of Serbs in Kosovo elections was unexpectedly good, for example in Leposavić/Leposaviç 50 per cent of citizens cast the ballots, 200 more than in local elections. Good turnout was also registered in other municipalities in northern Kosovo, the call of Serbian government was beneficial, Serbs in the north are listening to what their state is telling them and most of them behave accordingly, said Mayor of Leposavić/Leposaviç Municipality and member of the steering group for implementation of Brussels agreement, Dragan Jablanović to Vesti.

Serbs below the threshold (Danas)

According to preliminary results from the processed 2,352, out of 2,374 polling stations in Kosovo, the Democratic Party of Kosovo won Kosovo early parliamentary elections with 30.69 percent of the vote. Threshold was crossed by the Democratic League of Kosovo, the Self-Determination Movement, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo and the Initiative for Kosovo. Pacolli's Alliance for Kosovo with 4.65 percent remained below the threshold as well as the Serbian list with 4.21 percent of the vote.
