Belgrade diplomatic action started to remove features of Kosovo’s independence from the election material. Dacic: It is not good to impose symbols of the so-called state that we do not recognize.

Serbia conducts a comprehensive diplomatic initiative for status neutral election material for voting in Kosovo, which is in line with the Brussels agreement.

This confirmed to Novosti, First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic, the day before the official start of the election campaign in the province:

Mayors of four northern municipalities have decided today to freeze all election activities in protest of the decisions of the Central Election Commission which, they say, violate the law and the rights of minorities.

Election campaign for 31 political entities has officially started today and will last for ten days.

However, political parties have begun campaigning a while ago with the main focus being economic development and creation of new jobs.

The voter lists have recently been cleaned up and 101,000 names have been deleted. Out of these, 77,100 are deceased and 24,000 have renounced their Kosovo citizenship.

Mayors from northern Kosovo said that they have put on hold all election activities due to Central Election Commission’s decision with regards to composition of election boards. Mayors argue that decision is brought in violation with the ethnic composition of the population and electoral rolls for municipalities in the north.
