PM Haradinaj hails joint Thaci-Vujanovic statement (media)

Prime Minister of Kosovo Ramush Haradinaj has hailed the statement signed today by President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci and President of Montenegro, Filip Vujanovic. In a Facebook post, Haradinaj wrote: "On this anniversary of Kosovo Independence, I am happy that an annex agreement has been reached for ratification, review and correction of demarcation with Montenegro.

The news portal reports based on its reliable sources that the visit of the Montenegrin Prime Minister Dusko Markovic, was fruitful and that parties reached an agreement on demarcation of the border.

These sources claim that during the meetings with Kosovo leaders, Markovic has found common language on the border issue which according to Gazeta Express, will reach an epilogue very soon.

The President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, hosted today a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Montenegro, Dusko Markovic. He expressed appreciation for Montenegro’s support and PM’s visit on the verge of the tenth jubilee of independence.

Thaci and Markovic discussed bilateral relations, current political situation in the region as well as European perspective.

Forwarding of border demarcation bill to Assembly postponed (media)

Kosovo Assembly chairmanship has decided not to forward the border demarcation agreement to the Assembly for vote in its next plenary session, media report. President of the Assembly, Kadri Veseli, said after the meeting of the chairmanship that the issue of border demarcation requires broad political consensus.

Haradinaj: Little chance for demarcation to be negotiated by prime ministers (media)

Prime Minister of Kosovo Ramush Haradinaj said today that the visit of Montenegrin Prime Minister Dusko Markovic is aimed at discussing ways to increase cooperation but that there is little chance for negotiation of the border demarcation issue. “With regards to demarcation, the agreement is in the parliament and there is not a lot of room for negotiations between prime ministers,” Haradinaj said.

Montenegrin Prime Minister to visit Kosovo (Express)

The Prime Minster of Montenegro, Dusko Markovic, will be visiting Kosovo on the 6 February. The news was confirmed by his cabinet. They said that the visit was confirmed and that they are preparing for the meeting.

The visit is taking place based on the invitation of the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, and it is expected to open way to the solution of the demarcation of the border with Montenegro.

Kosovo’s Assembly committee for foreign affairs, Diaspora and Strategic Investments has preceded to the Assembly the draft law on demarcation of the border with Montenegro, without a recommendation on whether to vote for or against it.

Member of the Kosovo government’s commission for border demarcation with Montenegro said they have secured evidence showing that the disputed are of Cakorr was under Kosovo’s administration. “There are two border lines, one cadastral and the other administrative. Kosovo has administered this part of the territory and Montenegro never questioned this practice,” Isufi said.
