A vehicle with Belgrade license plates burned in Mitrovica North (Kosova Press)

A Mercedes Benz vehicle with Belgrade license plates was burned on Monday at around 04:00 hours in Mitrovica North. Fortunately, except for entire burning of the vehicle, there are no other  material damages or casualties. It was learned that the owner of the vehicle is a Kosovo Serb, who used to work as customs officer. Deputy Director of the Kosovo Police for the north, Besim Hoti, confirmed the burning of the vehicle.

Detention extended to Oliver Ivanovic for another two months (KoSSev)

Detention to Oliver Ivanovic was extended yesterday for another two months, communicated Ivanovic’s party CI SDP ‘Oliver Ivanovic’ on its official Facebook and Twitter accounts commenting it as ‘shameful’.

Ivanovic is in detention as of 27 January 2014. His detention has been extended despite none of ten witnesses of the prosecution, who were questioned so far, could not bring him in connection with the events which took place on 14 April 1999, when four Albanians were killed in Kosovska Mitrovica.

Former MUP members to block police station and EULEX in the north (KosovaPress)

Former Serb members of Serbia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, (MUP,) in North Mitrovica, who stopped working after the Brussels agreement for police, have announced for today a protest. They plan to block Kosovo Police station and EULEX building in this part of the city.

Their request is integration in Kosovo Police, and for those who do not fulfill the required conditions, to continue to work for the Serbian MUP.

The Director of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Marko Đurić, is due to open a multimedia center today at students’ dormitory in North Mitrovica, carried Office for Kosovo and Metohija.

“The Center occupies a surface of 500 square meters with the cinema, gym, conference center, internet and other services important for improving students’ education and recreation. Total investment amounting to RSD 12,5 million is funded by the Students Center,” writes a communiqué.

Health Center in North Mitrovica lacks medicine (KoSSev)

The biggest problem of the Health Center in North Mitrovica is poor supply with drugs, caused by the strict control of the import of medicine and sanitary material at crossing Jarinje, between northern Kosovo and Serbia proper.

Deputy Director of the Health Center, Zlatan Elek, said that the biggest problem of that institution is procurement of drugs and explained that drugs, which are imported through Jarinje, are blocked and kept there due to custom taxes amounting from 10 to 27 per cent.

Coordination of activities to maintain stability in Mitrovica (Telegrafi)

Security situation in the municipality of Mitrovica is stable and adequate measures need to be taken to maintain it and improve conditions for free movement of all people, especially during the Orthodox Christmas period, agreed in a meeting the Mitrovica deputy mayor, Safet Kamberi, and the commander of the police station in the southern part of the city, Ahmet Gjosha. The two officials also agreed on the need to step up security measures for visits that members of the Serb community will make to the southern part of the city during Orthodox Christmas.
