Serbia will strive firmly to be part of the EU, says Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic. He underlined that his country has done more in the refugee crisis than several EU members.

Aleksandar Vucic spoke to DW on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

DW: There are many refugees in Serbia at the moment. Your country has been criticized by several EU member states for your approach to the refugee crisis.

I do not accept replacement of thesis, in which the entire world talks about the train, and no Albanian has seen it, while Serbs in the north have seen 17 armoured vehicles, said the prime minister of Serbia.

Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić in Davos today will have an emergency meeting with EU High Representative Federica Mogherini, reports RTS.

The topics expected relate to the latest events between Belgrade and Pristina, reports correspondent of RTS in Davos.

The meeting was not planned, but this morning was urgently scheduled for 15.30.

Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić said Tuesday that Belgrade and Pristina should forget the weapons and talk about everything, and hoped that no one would think of killing Serbs in Kosovo.

Asked by journalists to comment on the statement by the President of Serbia Tomislav Nikolić of Serbia's readiness to defend the Serbs in Kosovo with the weapons, Vučić answered the question: "Are you wondering whether someone will kill the Serbs."

Today's edition of daily Blic reports unofficially that Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić has banned all the ministers, state officials and civil servants to comment on developments in the region.

Vučić has brought this decision due to the events in Kosovo and the train, which was supposed to run on the line Belgrade - Mitrovica, in order to move towards calming the situation in the region, and not towards further escalation of the situation.

An armed conflict in the middle of Europe was averted over the weekend, says Sergei Zheleznyak, international secretary of the ruling United Russia party.

He said peace was preserved on Saturday "only thanks to the peacefulness and the strong nerves exhibited by Serbia's leadership and Aleksandar Vucic personally."

EU foreign policy Chief Federica Mogherini was "extremely worried" as the situation with the Belgrade-Mitrovica train "could have escalated."

Mogherini said this on Monday afternoon while addressing reporters after a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels.

Opposition DS party leader Dragan Šutanovac has accused President Tomislav Nikolić of "fueling further conflict and leading Serbs in Kosovo into new risks."

According to Sutanovac, Nikolic is doing this with his "warmongering statements."
