Kostić and Tanin about problems in the municipality and future cooperation (KiM radio)

Mayor of Gračanica /Graçanica Vladeta Kostić met with the head of the UN Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo Zahir Tanin and his team. UNMIK chief showed interest in the current situation in the municipality of Gračanica/ Graçanica, and one of the topics that were discussed was the future cooperation of municipality with the Interim Administration Mission.

Gračanica Book Fair was banned (Vesti)

After three years of organizing the book fair in Gračanica, which is village that does not have even a bookstore, Pristina institutions denied the right to the citizens of that village to enjoy the books, at least for a fifteen days. Vidovdan Book Fair, which was to be held from 15 June to 01 July, was cancelled due to the ban on crossing the books in Serbian language to Kosovo and Metohija.

There was no attempt of kidnapping; the girl was attacked (KIM radio)

A 17 years old minor reported yesterday the attack - and not an attempted kidnapping reported by some media - to the police station in Gracanica, told Bratislav Trajkovic, Commander of the police station in Gracanica to RTV KIM .

As confirmed, the girl before the prosecutor made a statement, saying that there was an attack and the case was recorded as such.

Sixteen-year struggle to build safe house (KIM radio)

For more than sixteen years, women's associations in central Kosovo have been fighting to allow the opening of safe houses for women victims of domestic violence. There has been no success so far.

Unlike areas where Albanians make up the majority and where there are eight shelters, in Serbian communities there are none. Although the initiative to build a shelter for women victims of violence was initiated a long time ago, nothing has been done.

Director of Pristina National Theatre's vehicle confiscated by Kosovo Customs (TV Most, KIM radio)

Kosovo Customs confiscated the vehicle of the Director of the Pristina National Theatre, Nenad Todorovic in Knic village, near Mitrovica.

A press conference was organized today in Gracanica's cultural centre, in order to draw the public's attention to the daily administrative problems of Serbs in Kosovo.

Austrian parliamentarians' Gracanica visit (KIM Radio)

Mayor of Gracanica Vladeta Kostic presented the municipality’s development plans to Austrian parliamentarians, led by the Austrian Ambassador in Pristina/Prishtine, Gernot Pfandler.

Mayor Kostic informed the Austrian delegation about the main characteristics, current situation and development opportunities of the municipality of Gracanica.

Gracanica allocated land to the Association of Journalists of Serbia (KoSSev, KIM radio)

The Mayor of Gracanica Vladeta Kostic and President of the Association of Journalists of Kosovo and Metohija (DNKiM) Budimir Nicic yesterday signed the agreement on the allocation of land for the construction of the Journalists' House in Gracanica.

The Journalists Association of Serbia (UNS) was awarded with a plot of 400 square meters, for a period of 99 years with possibility of extension, needed for the construction of the House of Journalists.

Miric withdrew from the New Party of Kosovo (KIM Radio)

Dragisa Miric, one of the candidates in the last elections for mayor of Gracanica, withdrew from the position of the president of the New Democratic Party (NPK).  As stated, Miric decided to handover party leadership to the younger members and to withdraw from the position after ten years of work in politics.  Elections for the new president of NPK will be held on 28 November in Gracanica, and Miric proposed Aleksandar Grujic from Bresje, as his successor.
