Serbian Minister of Internal Affairs Nebojsa Stefanovic urged British Ambassador in Kosovo, Ruairi O’Connell to say who the criminals are for which he said Kosovo citizens should not vote for, Tanjug news agency reports.

“I would like to hear who these criminals are because we were kept persuaded that these are wonderful people and there is no crime in Kosovo. And then they say – do not vote for the criminals,” Stefanovic said, adding it is about politicians from Albanian people.

The exhibition on the occasion of the World Day of Refugees and Displaced Persons presented at the Center for Civil Energy in Gracanica presented photographs of residents of collective centers in Gracanica, Leposavic, Zvecan and Strpce. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic says, in Trstenik after opening the factory, he hopes that the international community understands that Serbia is in a difficult situation on the occasion of the announced formation of the Kosovo Army, adding it is the duty of the authorities (of Serbia) to protect "their face and national pride" without entering into conflicts, reports the regional broadcaster N1.

The British Ambassador to Kosovo Ruairi O’Connell has continued with his practice of responding to the questions of the citizens on the social network, Facebook. Asked about the recent idea of correction of the borders, he said the position of Britain with regards to borders has not changed.

“Why are you asking when you know the position of Britain. Our position has not changed since 2005,” O’Connell wrote.

British Ambassador, Ruairi O’Connell said Kosovo’s main challenge is fighting corruption, especially at the high level. “Corruption destroys the country, prevents economic development,” said O’Connell at a presentation of a Kosovo Law Institute report. He also said Kosovo has not achieved a positive track record of fighting corruption. “There is no high-level conviction.

The Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Kosovo, Ruairi O’Connell valued establishment of the Reconciliation and the Truth Commission, initiative of the President of Kosovo Hashim Thaci.

O’Connell said it is very important for youth to understand what has happened and agree not to repeat the war. He offered his support for any need of the commission.

Discussing the role of the Kosovo Specialist court at the public presentation of the report “Public Perception of the Kosovo Specialist Court: Risks and Opportunities”, organized by NGOs PAX, Integra, and Center for Peace and Tolerance, President Thaçi criticized the one-sidedness of the “mono-ethnic” court and slammed the international community for falling short of fulfilling their part of the “bargain”.

President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, in a joint press conference with President of Albania, Ilir Meta, spoke about the decision of the British Ambassador, Ruairi O’Connell, to walk out midway through Thaci’s speech  on specialist chambers. “I didn’t even notice he was inside or when he stepped out. If he walked out for his personal business, it is his decision, but if he went out as a result of disagreeing with the debate, it is a frustrating, childish and completely undiplomatic behaviour,” Thaci said.

The Ambassador of the Great Britain to Kosovo, Ruairi O’Connell, left the room where a debate on the Special Court was taking place, when Kosovo’s President, Hashim Thaci, criticized harshly the international community. He said the international community betrayed Kosovo, because they had promised liberalization of visas, membership at UNESCO and European Council in exchange for the Special Court.

The Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Kosovo, Ruairi O’Connell, expressed regret with regards to the lack of exclusion of candidates with criminal convictions from the election list.

He took to Facebook to write that it is “A pity that candidates with criminal convictions could not be excluded. It is now up to voters to have their say. As a friend of Kosovo, I hope voters choose to reject candidates with criminal links.”
