With 89 Yes and 22 No votes Kosovo parliament today adopted the law on establishment of the special war crimes court and continuation of EULEX mandate. The only ones who were opposed were deputies from the ranks of movement Self-Determination. EULEX’s mandate is extended until 15 June 2016.

Prime Minister of Kosovo Hashim Thaçi reiterated in the assembly that request of the international community on creation of the special court, which should deal with allegations presented in Dick Marty’s report, presents injustice and the biggest insult for Kosovo.

“This is very difficult and will present the burden for our conciseness as long as we live. However our conciseness will remain stained if we don’t respond adequately to requests coming from the US and EU on the creation of the special court where allegations of Dick Marty would be addressed,” said Thaçi.

Despite such stance Thaçi called Kosovo institutions to establish the court which will investigate allegations made by Dick Marty.

Serbian MPs have supported the law, in line with their earlier announcements.
