The news website reports that Kosovo’s Minister of Justice, Abelard Tahiri, in line with competencies of the Law on International Legal Cooperation on Criminal Matters, authorized a joint operation by Kosovo and German police against organized crime. Police raided several sites suspected of money laundering in Pristina and Ferizaj. Tahiri said: “Based on the competencies of the Law on International Legal Cooperation on Criminal Matters, I authorized a joint operation between local and German authorities in the fight against organized crime, in several locations in the Republic of Kosovo. The image of our Republic is growing stronger every day in bilateral and multilateral partnership against crime and at the level of EU countries and beyond. Only last year, with Germany we have had 33 extraditions. The police operation yesterday was evidence of growing cooperation between the two countries and it confirmed once again the credibility of our institutions toward our institutional partners. As Minister of Justice, I have and will continue to try that the name of the Republic of Kosovo is not a reference for organized crime or for our country to become a haven, transit or place of origin for crime. We will continue our commitment so our approach against organized crime can become fully efficient on all levels”.
