Kosovo Police Department of Operations Director, Afrim Ahmeti, said in an interview to Ekonomia Online that criminal groups in the northern part of Kosovo are on the decline, some of them have been arrested and others were forced to flee Kosovo. Ahmeti said police often raid suspected locations of these groups. “Criminal groups always have the tendency to cause incidents throughout the country, but those that operated in the north were more evident. Police cooperates with citizens in the north. Citizens there have expressed their concerns over such groups. Fortunately, these criminal groups are on the decline. Some of them have been arrested and others were forced to flee Kosovo. We monitor suspected locations on a daily and weekly basis, and we use other means and the help of other intelligence units to verify where they are located,” he added. Ahmeti said the security situation in the north is stable.
