Serbs in KiM do not need “Kosovo’s” Milorad Dodik, said most of the political representatives of Kosovo Serbs, and members of the SPS consider mentioning the President of the Republika Srpska in Kosovo’s context as “politically provocative” at this time.

SNS officials from Kosovo yesterday did not respond to phone calls and we do not have their comment on the recent statement given by the Director of the Government Office for KiM Aleksandar Vulin that Kosovo Serbs should have “their Dodik”, especially as the “unified Serbian list would achieve absolute victory in all municipalities “in the upcoming municipal elections organized by Pristina on 3 November.

“I do not understand Vulin’s proposal. What do we need “Dodik” for if KiM is part of Serbia? We have “Dodik” in Belgrade. If Belgrade creates some “Kosovo’s Dodik,” it will create only new divisions among Serbs. Serbs in KiM do not need uniformed mindedness, what is unique Serbian List for which the government in Belgrade stands for so that SNS and SPS conceal their participation in the elections. It will not pass among people; they will have to clearly state what they stand for, whether for municipalities within Serbia or Kosovo,” said Goran Bogdanovic, DS deputy in the Parliament of Serbia and the former Minister for Kosovo and Metohija.

Momcilo Trajkovic, leader of the Serbian Resistance Movement, also believes that “Dodik is needed in Serbia, not in Kosovo, which is part of it.”

“We need authentic Kosovo Serb policies that will be supported by Belgrade. I do not understand why we insist on the single list in local elections in the predominantly Serbian municipalities, which will certainly win the Serbs. Advocating a single list is total ignorance of politics in Kosovo. At this stage we need a real Serbian national list, which would won the Thaci’s Serbs, and eliminate Thaci’s policy of Albanianization of Serbian municipalities. State would help by having contributed to the abandonment of the party’s action, but only at this stage,” explained Momcilo Trajkovic.

Marko Jaksic, a DSS representative in the Parliament of Serbia, is categorical that “Kosovo Serbs do not need a leader,” and that “Vulin stories are part of the pranks initiated by the Prime Minister Ivica Dacic statement, that he is looking forward to form a community of Serbian municipalities so Serbs themselves can go to Brussels for negotiations, which would probably be the job of the “Kosovo’s Dodik” “. Jaksic stresses that “Kosovo is not BiH, but a part of Serbia,” and that the president of RS “is not the best example, as he stands for the partition of Kosovo.”

Regarding the “Kosovo Dodik” story, the  SPS officials in KiM informally say “chair does not make the man, but a man the function and it all depends on who will be chosen by the people, which and in past 13 years have been choosing their representatives.”

Socialists estimate that it will be difficult to create a unified Serbian list in all KiM and announced that backup plan would be the formation of an electoral list that would reflect the composition of the ruling coalition at the national level in Serbia.

“One Dodik is sufficient for the whole territory of the former Yugoslavia. Serbs in KiM need a collective body, which would set priorities for all parts of KiM where Serbs remained living and together with Belgrade define equal support to all. A prerequisite is that the Serbs and the south and north of the Ibar discuss together openly with state authorities in Belgrade, because so far on all sides there was much dishonesty,” said Rada Trajkovic, a member of United Serbian List in the Assembly.

Vice President and member of the Kosovo parliament, Petar Miletic SLS, told our newspaper that he is “in principle against leaders who let the rain and wonder for all,” and that  “the upcoming Kosovo municipal elections does not connect with a single Serbian list, since in the majority of Serbian municipalities regardless of the number of electoral lists, the Serbs will not lose.”

Non-partisan and without buses

“I was not involved in organization of the protests that four Serbian municipalities of northern Kosovo held on 10 May in Belgrade, but I heard that Dodik had promised the organizers, during their visit to Banja Luka, help with the meeting, if it is a non-partisan and the leaders of political parties in Belgrade do not speak on it. Although Dodik’s idea was accepted, on the protest in Belgrade no bus from RS came. Dodik, in the meantime, for some reason, changed his mind,” explains Marko Jaksic.
