Ilir Dedaj writes that the year that we are leaving behind, was the start of waking up for the population of Kosovo. They found the courage to express their positions towards the political and economic developments in the country. It started with the protest against increased electricity bills, marches against corruption, protests of the trade union, successful petition against the Law on amnesty which was changed as requested by 12.764 signers of the petition, and the greatest result was massive turnout on free and democratic elections of 3 November and runoff of 1 December. “Our citizens voted, punished and won,” says Deda.

He considers that citizens became aware of their power, by becoming stakeholders of the political development of the country. Waking up of 2013, has to be stamped in 2014, he says. “May we all have a happy year, with hope on the victories in front of us,” says Deda.
