Minister of European Integrations, Vlora Çitaku, writes there is a lot of “noise” at present in Kosovo caused by a “loud minority” regarding religion.

She says she would have preferred the debate would be in favour of a secular state where religion but as it stands, this “loud minority” is completely dominating the debate for a simple reason and that is that the silent majority prefers not to get involved for fear that this would only empower the first group more.

Çitaku argues that choosing to remain silent in face of hate speech and religious intolerance is not a good example of citizenship.

She calls on institutions, citizens and relevant authorities to speak up and “consolidate the system of values we aspire. Loud and with arguments. Because I fear that later will be too late”.
