OSCE: Institutions made progress on repatriated persons (TV21)

In its third report on reintegration of repatriated persons to Kosovo, the OSCE Mission highlights that central and local level institutions in Kosovo have made a significant progress since 2011, by improving their coordination and policies, as well as by increasing assistance to repatriated persons.

At the same time, the report offers analysis and recommendations to central and local level institutions on how to tackle identified challenges.

No progress was made in the Brussels discussions between Kosovo and Serbia representatives, mediated by the EU.

Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri stated that Serb representatives did not agree that inauguration of north Kosovo municipal assemblies should take place in line with the Kosovo legislation.

The meeting will continue on Friday.

No symbols will be used at north Mitrovicë/Mitrovica Municipal Assembly inauguration (Klan Kosova)

The second attempt for inauguration of north Mitrovicë/Mitrovica Municipal Assembly will happen on Friday, but it seems that all five Albanian and one Bosniak councillors will not take part in the inauguration session, because the invitations they received from the newly elected mayor Krstimir Pantic do not contain any element of Kosovo’s statehood.

However, Serbs are not taking into the account this refusal. From Belgrade Oliver Ivanovic of Serbia, Justice, Democracy civic initiative told Klan Kosova that Serb elects intend to constitute status neutral municipalities on Friday. According to him, it would be good if Albanians would join this process as well.

North Mitrovicë/Mitrovica mayor elect Krstimir Pantic will act likewise. A few days ago he received support from Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, who said that four municipalities in the north should be constituted according to the will of people, not according to laws.

Trajkovic: Belgrade should clarify Serbs about Association of Serb Municipalities (KTV)

“Belgrade should clarify to Serbs what the Association of Municipalities will be like, and if municipalities in the south have agreed to be integrated into the Kosovo system,” Kosovo MP from Unified Serb List Rada Trajkovic said.

“How will the Association function, how will Kosovo Serbs be coordinated with different positions on status within Kosovo itself,” Trajkovic wondered in an interview with B92.

According to her, if a separate fund for economic support to the north is established, it is normal to expect that such economic independence also brings a more powerful political independence. “This does not mean that a unified approach will resolve the Serb issue in Kosovo,” Trajkovic said.

“With regard to the status of Serbs in Kosovo, I think that there are efforts to define north Kosovo as a separate region,” she said.

According to Trajkovic, the Association will not be able to function as an institution with serious authority, if it is not part of Kosovo laws.
