Thaçi is drawing himself a ridiculous self-portrait (Koha Ditore)

Enver Robelli writes that the history of Kosovo, as trying to be presented by Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi, resembles a parody and such was his recent interview for Tirana-based Top Channel when he tried to draw himself a historic self-portrait. “In this attempt, Thaçi failed colossally”, adds Robelli.
The interview, notes Robelli, comes at a time when there are reports surfacing that a good part, if not the entire, general staff of former Kosovo Liberation Army will be indicted for the disappearance of civilians during and after the war, for their torture, illegal imprisonment, murder, and other heinous crimes.
“It seems the prime minister of Kosovo is panicking that the mantelpiece where his work and political actions will be placed will not be made of marble but of plaster”. A politician who is proud of his political actions has no need to draw self-portraits but leaves this job to true historians and publicists.
“Obsession to leave traces even where it is not possible, thirst to be the first by all means, desire to hyperbolize himself have for years now turned into an almost every day activity for the prime minister”, Robelli says.
This “hopeless” attempt of Thaçi to portray himself as a patriotic and historic leader would have turned out much better had he denounced criminal circles on 12 June 1999 upon liberation of Kosovo, concludes Robelli.
