Government of the Republic of Kosovo, condemns the murder of the municipal adviser of northern Mitrovica Municipality, Dimitrije Janjicevic, elected by citizens in the recent municipal elections, held for the first time in northern part of Kosovo.
This murder is a serious and cowardly act and as such, it is condemnable by the citizens and institutions of the Republic of Kosovo. It is a direct attack against the will of the citizens in northern Mitrovica and against establishment of rule of law as well as legitimate institutions in that part of the territory of Kosovo.
The Government stresses that it has been decided to continue with determination to fully functionalize the democratic institutions, elected by citizens of northern part of Kosovo, with all its institutional capacities.
The Government requests from the competent bodies to undertake all measures to put in front of the justice and give the deserved sentence to the perpetrators of this murder.
