Minister without portfolio in charge for Kosovo and Metohija in the government of Serbia Aleksadnar Vulin said that new elections for the mayor of Northern Mitrovica will take place, although he was not able to say a precise date. He stressed that it is important that election process is accomplished as soon as possible in order that Community of Serbian Municipalities could continue with the work on its creation in full capacity.

On question who will have Belgrade’s support in forthcoming election Vulin replied that he doesn’t want to interfere in decision of the Civil Initiative ‘Srpska’, whose candidate was supported by the goverenemtn in recent local elections.

“Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija are politically mature and they proved it in recent elections, thus there is no reason for me to be the one who will make decision about it. They will choose the one they believe the most,” said Vulin.

Reflecting on the possibility of extraordinary parliamentary elections in Serbia, Vulin said that it is not disputable that that Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija will be able to vote in those elections if called by the President of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic.
