Unnamed European officials told Tribuna that this summer Kosovo could get a positive report about visa liberalization, but this will not be enough for a decision to lift the visa regime for Kosovo nationals in autumn. “In addition to uncompleted work, this is an election year in the European Union. The decision to lift visas is unpopular and officials at the end of their mandate cannot be expected to take such a decision,” a European official told the paper. He also added that according to the election timeframe, “the most realistic time when a decision on visa liberalization can be made is autumn 2015.”
