President of Republic of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, has taken a decision, based on Law on Local Elections, article 4 item 4 and the Law on Local Self-Government, article 57, as well as the note of the Ministry of Local Government Administration received by the President’s Office, to announce 23 February 2013 as the date when elections for mayor of North Mitrovica Municipality will take place.
President Jahjaga has instructed the Central Elections Commission of Republic of Kosovo to undertake all necessary actions to organise and hold elections for mayor of North Mitrovica Municipality, in line with applicable legislation.
President Jahjaga calls on all citizens with the right of vote from North Mitrovica Municipality to take part in elections and use their constitutional and legal right.
President Jahjaga stresses that elections need to be fair and enable the citizens to freely choose their legal and legitimate representative.
