The front page editorial of this daily writes that in principal, the initiative of the Assembly of Kosovo to investigate suspected privatizations of public enterprises is a good one. However, if political parties have decided to undertake such steps, then they should start from themselves. Deputies, former deputies, current and former government officials, former ministers and their relatives have been often mentioned in the media for involvement on privatization process.
Social properties were sold for very low prices while it is very easy to understand who profited from this harmful process for the economy of Kosovo. The respective agency that administrated selling of socially-owned enterprises was continuously bound to politics and implemented its directives. Verifications of millions from the sold enterprises never took place. There are serious suspicions that privatization was used for money laundry, but this has to be proved by respective bodies, if they are capable and independent.
All suspicious cases require deep investigation, however, the Assembly cannot do this, because major parties, both in the government or opposition would not penalize themselves. The prosecution should activate, but in order to do this, they have to get themselves free from politics. “Only then we can hope that the backgrounds of many of these suspicious cases would enlighten,” concludes this daily
