MPs in the Kosovo assembly who represent Serbs request that Olvier Ivanovic is released pending trial. Letter is signed by 13 MPs who deem that someone wants purposely to prevent Ivanovic from becoming the mayor of Northern Mitrovica.

“We, the MPs at the Kosovo assembly representing Serbs, are requesting from authorities to enable Oliver Ivanovic to be release pending adjudication. We are aware that prosecution and courts are independent and unbiased and that they should not be put under any pressure. However, we’ve been witnessing lately that a campaign is orchestrated against Mr Ivanovic in Prisitna-based media, thus we are forced to react in this manner,” reads the letter.

The pointed out that Oliver Ivanovic was accessible, all these years, to local and international institutions, ant that he was MP in the Kosovo assembly in two mandates and that he is a public person and that there is no a slightest chance that he would be unreachable for the prosecution.

“He proved it by his own behavior when he reported himself after being called to give the statement. We can’t hide the impression that sending him to 30 days in detention, has to do with the political processes which are taking place in northern Kosovo, and that someone obviously doesn’t want him to become the mayor of Northern Mitrovica,” reads the letter.
