Rapporteur for visas at the European Parliament, Tanja Fajon as well as Euro-Deputy Urlike Lunacek, have sent a letter to the Commissioner for Internal Issues, Sesilia Malstrom, where they request from the institution that she leads to come up with the recommendation for removal of visas for the citizens of Kosovo, reported KTV.
In this letter, Fajon and Lunacek request the recommendation for removal of visas to prepare during this mandate of the European Commission, respectively by Autumn. “The issue of visas is the most tangible for the population, while advantages of the freedom of movement are priceless. Kosovo population deserves this,” says the letter.
They have accused the commission for prolongation of the experts’ reports, but they also consider that authorities in Pristina should do much more on fulfilling the criteria for inclusion of Kosovo in the list of the countries which have a free visa regime. Not all the criteria on this direction are fulfilled.
