The raids and arrests in Štrpce/ Shterpce (RTS)

Several dozens of members of the KPS special units raided in Štrpce/ Shterpce Office of the Directorate for Development and the Health Insurance Fund of the Republic of Serbia, as well as the Department of the Kosovska Mitrovica Municipal Court, located in Štrpce/ Shterpce. 

The same police unit in Štrpce/ Shterpce and surrounding villages detained local members of the Kosovo police and took them to Uroševac/ Ferizaj for interrogation. Dejan Stevanovic, Radisa Jovanović, Dragan Markovic and Dejan Jorgović, policemen from the investigative unit of the Police station in Štrpce/ Shterpce, were detained. Among  detained persons was a local forester Dragutin Ivanovic. 

Homes of all those detained were searched, and during the search were used sniffer dogs. During the action, the special police units blocked the roads that lead to the Štrpce/ Shterpce villages Sevce, Gotovuša and Vrbeštica. 

As reported by Tanjug, members of the special police units searched Lazić family house in Štrpce/ Shterpce and seized money, laptops and phones. According to Ivan Lazic, the police came to his family’s house around 5:30 and showed him the warrant, which was written in Albanian. Ivan is the brother of Laza Lazic, who for several months is in custody, and at the time of a raid he was in the house with his mother. After 10 AM Special police, in several vehicles, drove off Štrpce/ Shterpce. 

Because of today’s actions of the Kosovo police, hundreds of Serbs, led by family members of the detained Serbs gathered in downtown Štrpce/ Shterpce seeking clarification from the Mayor, Bratislav Nikolic. “We ask you to explain today’s actions of the Kosovo police and tell us why they arrested members of our family,” was the message of gathered, stated for RTS members of the Interim Council of the Government of Serbia, in Štrpce/ Shterpce. 

Pristina Agency Kosovapress reported that the “six persons were arrested, three from Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) and three Albanians who were associated with them”. The source announced further arrests. 

As Pristina-based agency learned, Kosovo police on Election Day arrested a member of MUP. They found with him a USB which included the names of several people – members of the Kosovo police, who were reporting to the MUP what was the reason for today’s arrests.
